Christmas in the Wards Spectacular
Each year Christmas in the Wards works with civic leaders, schools, business, and community partners throughout Chicago to bring the spirit of the season to hard working families, deserving students, and youth; dedicating resources for the purpose to serve and build communities.
This is accomplished by selecting with local aldermen hundreds of at risk, need based families from the wards of Chicago who would otherwise go without not only toys-but essentials like food and clothing.
Christmas in Southland
In 2022, Christmas in the Wards expanded into the Southland. For the 2nd Annual Christmas in Southland, more than ten Southland communities and hundreds of families will enjoy a day of community, gift-giving, and special treats from Santa.
Shopping with Elected Officials
Mayor Richard M. Daley has been a friend and supporter since our humble beginnings as Christmas in Englewood, attending events and greeting families. He paved the way for what would become Shopping with the Mayor.
An annual tradition beginning with Mayor Rahm Emanuel in 2011, Shopping with the Mayor brings selected families together with Chicago’s chief leader, their local alderman, civic leaders, and sponsors for a shopping extravaganza at Pullman Walmart. Mayor Lori Lightfoot continued to carry the mantle, in her tenure, engaging Chicago’s youngest citizens and families shopping the aisles for Christmas essentials and a few wishes with Santa Elves dutifully filling every shopping basket.
Shopping in Proviso
Filling families’ grocery baskets in Proviso Township with Christmas trimmings andessentials. Shopping in Proviso – will take place at Amazon Fresh in North Riverside.
