Carrie Austin
Maya Garcia, a Chicago native, has spent over 15 years building her hometown in the con- struction industry and continues through her current role as a senior engineer for Chica- go Large Projects with ComEd. She began her career working in her family construction business, Riteway-Huggins Construction, as an operating engineer and a member of Local 150. This hands-on experience in the trades helped not only build her passion to become a civil engineer and work her way up in the construction industry, but also made her an adept and effective field administrator.
Maya is married to Jaime Garcia, the mother of two active and growing young sons and resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. She is also notably the youngest daughter of businessman and Christmas in the Wards founder, Larry Huggins. In her spare time Maya enjoys baking to relax, traveling, and giving back. Besides Christ- mas in the Wards, she volunteers through several organizations and is very proud of her work with the Stay In School Mentor and ComEd-U Programs.
